Building the Future of Cancer Care
We are laying the foundation!
This summer marks a milestone in cancer care: we started the construction of the nation’s first-of-its kind cancer respite center, affectionally called Pete’s Dream.
We are literally building the future of cancer care—because we have spent decades proving one simple truth: cancer respite is cancer care.
This isn’t just a building. We are creating a refined model of care that recognizes healing happens beyond the hospital. This center will give thousands of families a place to rest, reconnect, and regain strength during one of life’s most difficult journeys.
We celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony in May 2026, and the construction of this $25M campus is now underway. With 88% of the capital funding secured, we are raising the final $3M to bring this center to fruition! To sustain our mission, we are increasing our endowment by $7M, taking our permanently restricted endowment to $10M, and have raised $3M to this effort.

Mission Statement
For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation enables cancer patients and their loved ones to strengthen, deepen and unify their relationships by creating unforgettable and lasting Respite Experiences.
Working with oncology professionals at over 100 hospitals and cancer centers, FPS provides transformative Respite Experiences to cancer patients (ages 21-55), their caregivers and their children and offers our families emotional support that assists them as their journey with cancer continues. Our respite program helps families recognize it is love, not cancer, that defines them.
